Alive in Gaza was started in January 2009 as an initiative of Small World News. Alive in Gaza was founded under the same principles as previous projects Alive in Baghdad and Alive in Mexico. In Gaza there is an additional issue, which is to assist in the gathering of analysis and factual information about the situation in Gaza in one place. All issues regarding Palestinians and Israelis appear to be highly polarizing. It is our hope to not only provide our audience with a window into Gazan life, but also a wider understanding of the fundamental issues that made life in Gaza what it is today.

Alive in Gaza is directed by Omar Abdullah, a Palestinian of Gazan origin who grew up in Iraq and is currently displaced in Syria. Much of his Father’s family still reside in Gaza and, at least initially, we expect to be presenting their voices primarily. Omar will be supported by Brian Conley and Joshua Mull as well as a rotating and hopefully growing assortment of others.
