This is the first of three short video clips from old footage seen for the first time since 2005. The DC Guerrilla Poetry Insurgency (GPI) is an anti-authoritarian, collaborative, pro-humanity artists' collective incorporating music, rhythm, spoken word, community and resistance. This footage was taken by activist Marcy Newman in a gathering after a public insurgency where lots of the magic often happened.

The poem, "On Becoming Arab," is written and performed by Laila Shereen, who later became known as VJ Um Amel.
